    Another 100 year old pistol

Another one in my collection that has managed to reach the century mark that is still in pretty good condition. This time it's a Kongsberg Arsenal made Norwegian M/1914. As the model designation suggests, they were adopted as the official Norwegian service pistol in 1914, but production was very slow as witnessed by the fact that eight years after adoption, they had only manufactured 2562 of them by the time this one was made in 1922, .

In addition to having the unusually configured slide release, which is unique to Kongsberg Colts, it is very easy to tell if any parts have been replaced on one as they serial numbered nearly every small part including the trigger, hammer, thumb safety, barrel, barrel bushing and magazine release. The lanyard loop magazine is also original to this pistol.

Really nice pistol. Another gun I've never owned. Lusted after. But never found one.

                  NORWEGIAN pistol M1914

Looks like the Norwegians were already using the parkerized combat finish back in WW1

I agree, these shouldnt be fired , save them to preserve the history and shoot your new models instead.

Really nice photographs, I love the variations of 1911, the British .455 version is interesting, too.
                    Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Nice gun. Wish I had bought a bucket full of them back when they were cheep and somewhat plentiful.

When I was a kid haunting gunshops in the late 60s no one wanted the .455s, no ammo available.

I believe the Norwegians made a couple hundred 1914s in the 80s prior to starting up handgun production again to get the feel of it. Wonder where they ended up?

I do believe they are .45 ACP
Some WW1 1911 type pistols to GB were in .455.

Colt did indeed make 1911's in .455 for the British during WWI. By the time WWII came along, the US government just sent them standard 1911A1's in .45ACP as lend-lease aid.
