Yeah look what guys are doing with CMP Garands, although an SKS will probably never equal the profit of a CMP Garand, but it's thought anyway.
At this price point look at the auction sights and Proxibid to see what they are going for.

Just about finished cleaning out all the cosmoline. Sanding the stock will negatively effect its value. Is there anything that can be put on the stock like oil, that can cover up some of the scrapes without effecting it's value?

Your best bet is to buy a cheap stock on ebay. You can probably find a clean one on ebay for $40.

I want to keep the stock, as it has matching numbers, and no cracks.

Lord NO! Dont sand it. Why? In reality whatever as it will never become a prestigious collector's item. You can buy a OEM jungle stock and hand fit it on, like your in black pajamas. Otherwise clean off the cosomoline in trigger pack/piston and bolt/firing pin, wipe down stock and slam some strippers in it.

Well, yeah.....duh! You keep the old stock. Taking it off doesn't mean throwing it away. You want a cleaner-looking stock, put another one on there and run it in there. You know, you can always out the old one back on later.
Don't go altering original stocks. On this forum, that'll get you lit on fire.

I went into the Prescott yesterday to grab one. They only had one out and even though they said they had boxes of them in the back, they refused to bring any others out for me to look at. I told them I wanted to choose between 3 and they said the boss told them they were to have only one out at a time so I walked out empty handed.

I called the store later and talked to the Assistant Manager and told him what happened and suggested if they want to sell any, perhaps they should put out at least 3 so people have a selection. He agreed that was a good idea and would talk to the Manager about it, but not sure if anything will change.

It was all very odd to me as there were 20-30 empty racks in the rifle section and I was the only customer at the counter with 3 employees behind the counter.

That’s sad that they don’t understand why picking one out is so important. They’re not like the new rifles where the condition is the same. It’s a great deal, so it’s worth picking one up. Mine is all matching, they even EP’d the piston rod with the last 4 digits of the serial number.
