    check out this thread:

it shows TWO of my muzzle breaks which failed. one was an SKS and one was a mini-14. pretty cool pictures, pretty scary day at the range with my wife!

as far as adding a scope to a mosin:

im not really one to NOT dick with every rifle i get and look up all the bolt-ons, upgrades, conversions and everything that i can get for the rifle. plan and simple though, ive learned the hard (and VERY expensive) way that some things are better left alone BUT as far as a nagant goes, its a cheap, beater rifle. i see no problem putting a mount on one and i see no problem drilling one. there are and most likely always will be more than plenty of them around. if anything after you drill it and get tired of it down the road, turn around and sell it or trade it and get anotherone for a hundred bucks. theyre cheap and beaters and cant be expected to perform like a remington 700 or anything. at best it can be mistaken for a shoulder hammer.

they are pretty fun though and my personal recommendation is do what YOU want. if you want to put a scope on and are on a budget why not go with a cheapo mount and cheapo scope? it will make the rifle that much funner for that much longer. now some other surplus rifles i would highly recommend otherwise, but given what these rifles are, have fun with them! they can handle the abuse and have seen uglier days

Go to http://www.surplusrifle.com/mosincarbine/index.asp to learn the tricks to shooting them accurately. You will also find how to scope them.
Thanks for posting that link. I've been to that site before but didn't bookmark it and couldn't remember the name. Lots and lots and oh, just oodles of good info on our favorite historical guns.
