I was thinking about getting a M44 but really, a M38 = M44 just without a bayonet.

My friend from WA has a M44, he put on this really cool Russian comp. (I think? or could it be a FH??? it looks like ones u see on AK74s) on it that pushes a lot of recoil to the sides You can't attach the bayonet at all with that thing on though.

yea fell in love with it, had to get the pig sticker. tore it all down. cleaned it all, cycles smooth now. really is a great shooter...

Anyone else got some ammo suggestions? I swear I saw like 400 rounds for $100 for some surplus stuff just can't remember where? Anyone has an idea? Pretty good ammo?

I've got an oddball myself - a numbers matching 91/59 , it's basically a cutdown 1943 91/30 to m38 carbine size. Basically, a bastard rifle. But it's dead on, very accurate. And I am man enough to admit that I shoot all my mosins with a buttpad!

It's really good ammo too. For about $100 after shipping, it's a pretty good deal by today's prices too.
