*YAY*! I finally got a Mosin!!

I finally feel somewhat done for the time being until I get a real job. I saw a killer deal on Calguns this morning and the mosin was just calling my name.

That's the one! I'll take some of my own pictures later on. It came with 100 rounds of czech stuff, cleaning kit and sling. Cash and carry so I am very happy. I can finally go to a calgun shoot! Since it seems like everyone shoots their rifles there now I can join them with my m38. Next step is getting my c&r then I will probably pick up a couple of more later on.

Congrats on picking that up - I've been contemplating the K98 - Did you look at it by chance?

Sorry, he didn't have it with him and I was kind of in a rush. Deal with confidence with Mur. The Mosin is in great condition.

Congrats on the rifle, I also wanted to get the k98 but yeah thats way too far north for me. So you planning on modifying it any, because the stock on that baby looks beautiful, is it refinished?

From what I know, it is all original so I am planning on keeping it this way. I do want one that isn't as pretty so I can modify it. I want a 91/30 with a scout mount and a scope. Are there any places local in the east bay I can pick up some ammo? Somewhere that isn't going to rip me off?

Simo was a bad dude with a regular plain jane unmodded non-scoped 91/30. Ever since then I read about him I've managed to pick a few up here and there, including one more earlier today. The action of a Mosin might be hard to work, but it'll be a rifle that would probably outlast you.

you got yourself a good deal. I love my 91/30, it is a lot of fun to shoot. if you can get ammo delivered to your doorstep i would look into ammoman.com. the 7.62x54r they have is a little expensive compared to other surplus, but if you shoot at ranges that check ammo with magnets, its a good way to go. it is lead core, copper jacketed 80's/90's yugoslavian.
                    enjoy your new purchase.

Anyone else got some ammo suggestions? I swear I saw like 400 rounds for $100 for some surplus stuff just can't remember where? Anyone has an idea? Pretty good ammo?

Good buy on a clean rifle. The hundred rounds will get you started.

If your M38 is anything like mine, you're going to want to buy a limbsaver and good ear protection

My buddy and I recently went shooting and he shot corrosive yugo ammo through his Mosin and figured he could just piss in the barrel and call it a day. Several days later the bolt was rusted shut but I guess the fouling wasnt TOO bad.

Nice pick up. You are going to love that rifle. AIM (on-line) has ammo for it as well. The USI range in Concord sells Silver Bear non-corrosive ammo. They had several boxes the last time I was there...
