How much for an unfired 03A3?

I just paid $650 for an all correct, unfired, barely handled Remington 03A3 with WW2 uncut, unsharpened bayonet and scabbard. I suspect the rifle was a DCM purchase due to the condition. The cartouche stamps look like they were done yesterday, the edges are that sharp. I didn't go looking to spend any more money on firearms but who could resist this? 10 days in gun jail and then pictures will be posted. Fortunately for me I have another all correct but fired Remington 03A3 that I will shoot and keep this one to pass down to the kids (who will probably sell it and blow the money on video games).

They are great looking rifles. I have an '03 from the CMP and the 03A3 is better looking. IMHO.

I got it from the range owner where I shoot. Can't wait to pick it up. My other Remington 03A3 has a Boyt leather sling dated 1943, I think I will swap it over to the new 03A3 and put a web sling on the shooter.

Great rifle, great price, but probably not "unfired". It has been through a rebuild and the wear on the bolt and cut off indicates that it probably has
been fired.

What are the indications of passing through rebuild? The bolt and cut off wear are from the bolt being worked and taken out. The stamps on the stock indicate the Ordnance Corps inspector (FJA) and the RA is for Remington Arms and not Raritan Arsenal which it is sometimes mistaken for.

The peen punch below the serial numbers on the receiver is a rebuild mark.
Check the barrel and see if there is also one in the center of the flaming bomb.
Barrel date should be around Sept. Oct. 43


Edit.....My bad, forgot they started using peen marks just before WWII as factory proof marks. One is
OK.

I was going to say the same. I believe the bolt, rear sight assy, butt-plate and mag/trigger guard, barrel bands, and other parts were originally blued and not parked. Still, its a great rifle and I pay the $650.

Nice Rifle. I have one with the serial no. 4101XXX in very similar condition. It's nice to know the approximate market value on it .
