    First Hi Power

I saw one of these come up a year or two ago over at themosincrate.com and I missed it. I kept in touch with Alden periodically to see if he'd get any more in and he finally got a few more in. Better odds this time as he had three this time. I managed to get my pick of the litter.

Story goes, police surplus imported out of Israel

So made in Belgium, issued in Syria, Captured in Israel and imported to U.S.

He had an Iraqi contract in the same batch but I missed it.

That is now at the top of my list so I can complete the set

Nice! I have been looking for another HP for a while now, specifically a WWII version, but other guns keep showing up and taking my money. I like that you can trace the history of that one.

Ahh that's who bought my Hi Power lol. I haven't bought from Alden for years and I never will again. Still waiting on my Magazine for a Type 14 I bought 4 years ago. Congrats on the purchase. I like the crests. I had put in for 3 of the 4 and got none. His system is not for me.

Was the one he called Iraqi Contract actually Iraqi? It had the Eagle of Saladin crest which was used by Egypt on FN-49 receivers they purchased from FN. Did Iraq use the same crest on the Hi Power?

yeah I believe that was Iraqi contact.

I put in for all of them and when he called the one I got was available as well as the two-tone which I passed on.

I was hoping to get a Syrian and Iraqi and be done with the quest but alas, the search continues.

Regarding the questions about price, I don't remember the exact price...but it was a lot

They were $850-950. He offered me the two tone but that one was a price of ****.

Surprised Iraq used the same Eagle of Saladin crest that Egypt used instead of the Iraqi crest that is on the Mausers.

Well I guess I don't really remember about the crest

looks like Iraqi and U.A.R. are very similar, at least according to this thread
I hope I have identified correctly the respective crest (or symbol/code) for each countries per regions. If there are countries not included here that have contracted FN (including FM and FEG) for

And yeah that was the price. This was a true "shut up and take my money" situation since I'd been on the lookout for one for so long, didn't even pay attention

He had a bunch more that were not Syrian/Iraqi that were cheaper

Classic got a batch too a month or so ago if I recall. No idea what they were selling them for

I was only interested in the Syrian/Iraqi so wasn't paying attention to the others in the lot

They are both Eagle of Saladin which is some sort of Arab symbol so I guess they just went with that on them. Maybe FN offered a discount so they didn't have to make new stamps.

                      The others were around $550.

I recently bought a FEG HP copy that is marked as though produced by FN. I was told that it and others were sanction busters for Iraq but I fail to see how marking a Hungarian pistol with faux Belgian stampings got around any arms embargos against Iraq.

Be careful when buying surplus High Powers that you aren't buying an FEG instead...not that anything is wrong with an FEG high power clone except if one pays FN price for an FEG.

Once you shoot the Hi Power, it will make you wonder if the 1911 is the second best.

Nice find. The patina shows character.
