Up until recently - GIs were allowed to bring home captured weapons - I am not sure when this practice cease -

In the good 'ol pre-68 days as a kid, I fired one of these in the original 13.2, from the prone as intended.

The only rifle and round I could compared it to in my experience at the time was a Winchester 70 in .458 mag, and the Mauser was to the .458 as the .458 was to a 06 - it was the most unbelievable recoil i'd ever experienced up to that time, and it only took that one round to satisfy my curiosity.

We were shooting at a split-rim truck wheel downhill, at a range of approx 100 yds. When the round hit the wheel it rang the thing like a bell, and would punch straight through without deforming. 06 black tip would dent or penetrate, depending on the part of the wheel hit.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

        No way, are you serious?

ETA: Yep, you are! Seems to be a big problem with age and heavy recoil rifles as well as race car drivers and boxers...

Tons, actually. I know at least a couple of people who've either found a gun in a wall, or have a gun that was found in a wall.

            Not all that uncommon.

Not a single person in the crowd is rational or reachable because the parade's for gay folks and it's in SF.
