I ended up working on the rifle this weekend. Rather than buying a bore scope, I used a cleaning rod to measure depth from the end of the barrel to find out if the round was live; found out it was a spent case.

Now, that I was OK knowing it was a spent case, ran some CLP down the barrel, let it soak for ~1 hour while I did some errands; errand included going to Home Depot for a 3' 1/4" aluminum rod. After giving the rod a few love taps, case popped out.

Not sure what caused the case to be stuck in the first place. There was a wisp of rust, but not nearly enough to get it stuck. Cleaned the bore and chamber, now a new round drops right in. The stuck case doesn't drop in; there's drag when it's about 1/4" from being fully seated. The open end of the case is bent, but I wonder if that's from someone else trying to push out the case.

PS. Looked up the price of new rounds.

Box of 20 has a price sticker of $18.45. Where can I get more at that price!?
