    First C&R Purchase Question

I obtained the 03 FFL and COE mainly for the purchase of ammunition, but decided that I needed an M1 Garland in my life, so I bought one from the CMP.

Even though the CMP was willing to ship to me direct, I decided to have it shipped to my 01 FFL as my understanding of CA law says that is the procedure.

The rifle was shipped and received by my FFL. Due to being called out of state for work, it was 2 weeks before I could go and do the DROS. I have 2 questions:

    1. I know the DROS informs the overlords I have the rifle, but what date do I put in my bound book, the date of purchase or the date of DROS?

    2. Who do I input into the book as the source of the acquisition in the bound book, the CMP or the FFL address?

Thanks in advance. This is all new to me.

Date of acquisition, ie the date you brought it home. And you would use the name/info of the FFL who transferred it to you.

Speaking of, I sure hope you brought it home without a 10 day wait.

    Congrats on your gun!

Thank you, sir. Appreciate the help. First C&R I have ever bought. Yes, I carried it home, cleaned her and greased her and will be making some noise at the range this weekend. Really nice service grade. TE of 1 and ME of 2. CMP was great to deal with.

What kind of wood did you get? And because this is CG, I should clarify that I am referring solely to the rifle stock.

Yes, always pays to play it safe on Cg!

I believe it is walnut. No cartouche on it. Good condition.

Good looking Garand with new replacement stock - congratulations! You will likely find that to be a fine shooter... enjoy!

Consider getting a Garand Gear gas plug so you have more flexibility in food.

A garand was also my first C&R purchase, though I got mine from another CGer, so it got shipped straight to me (that's a cool feeling)

Also don't forget to submit the electronic purchase record with the $19 fee to CFARS. (BOOOOOO!)

What a beautiful piece of history (: Thanks for sharing!

Doesn't need to do that. He took delivery from a CA FFL. He did a DROS.

                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

                      FFL03 is a good thing.
Had a CMP 1911 come in this month already and a Luger inbound.
No 10 day wait, no only one pistol in 30 days.

Cool, didn't realize that was an either/or thing, but that does make sense now that I think about it. I stand corrected.

OP send pictures of the paper you kill with your new battle rifle (:

Have one inbound. A shooting buddy turned me on to them. Yes, definitely replacement stock. All good. I bought it to shoot!

Thanks. It will go great with the M1 Carbine I bought 25 years ago. The older I get, the more I come to enjoy the classics. Of course, never left the 1911!
