CMP M1 Carbine

Should be seeing mine within a month or so. Order Rec. 2-5-09. My question is. Does the CMP send CA customers 10 round com. Mags or do they just send the gun? I'm going to guess that they don't send them with the rifle. I plan on getting a few more mags anyway. Who makes the best 10 rounder mags? Anything I should stay away from.
PS. was at Big 5 today... I kid you not 46.00 for a box of 50 .30 carbine ammo.

I dont think the CMP sends anyone mags with the rifles anymore. At least thats what I have read. I am going to try and see if the CMP will dissassemble the mags and sell them as kits to me so I can reassemble them into 10 rounders.

You should get one magazine with the rifle. My Garand came with one enbloc clip anyway. Get your ammo from them too, much cheaper than big 5.

The CMP doesn't send any mag's with the carbines, as the GI mag's they have are 15-rounders. The mag's are available through their e-store, though, but not to Californians (the 15 round thing).

^ Mine did not come with any magazines. I don't think it is just a California thing. CMP dose not have enough mags for all customers. So they don't send any with the rifles. CA has the additional problem of its stupid 10+ round magazine ban.

I bought some 10 rounders from Fulton Armory and haven't had any trouble with them.

It's a small price to pay for the best price in the country on a GI M1 carbine. As others have said, get 10 rounders from Fulton, or find someone to sell you GI repair kits and lock them at 10 rounds before assembling.
