Looks like a beaut! Definitely post some high-def pics after pick-up; the MauserC-96 has always been one of my favorite pistols!

Thank you for the complement. Lmao rare around this site. Yes its got patina [emoji2] . Got to visit today to check the bore. In my haste, forgot the golden rule. Rifling is sharp, small patch of rust between the rifling. Expected to see some rust or pitting. No pits!
Ill have to use my kids phone for better pics. Sigh... May 13 is the epected arrival. Still not released for transfer.
I am a noob about relics. I see returns and shooter grade red 9 around 1500 in the free world. I feel that I got a good deal. But yeesh cold have got 2 gold cups for the price of that c96.

dkonrai, you should visit this site, all C96 experts are there:

      Mauser: 1914, M1896/12, M1896/16 Red 9; Walther: No. 4 & No. 6; 1913 Sauer, 07 Dreyse, FL Selbstlader, Beholla, Menta, Jager; M1908 Bayard, 1910 Bergman Bayard; Browning: 1900 & 1903; Frommer Stop; Steyr Hahn

btw, have you had a chance to check the serial # internally and under the grips?

Went back today fully intent on picking up that Artillery Luger.... Turns out its a mis-match. The serial # on the receiver under the barrel at the front does not match the rest of the pistol. That was a dealbreaker for me.

So instead I decided to check out one of the M1 Carbines hanging on the wall from the same estate... Turned out to be a really nice all matching Winchester in the 5 Million serial range. War time correct rifle built in mid '44. It does not have the bayonet lug, but has the milled adjustable rear sight which is textbook for a non re-arsenaled WW2 rifle!

Starting the DROS on this beauty in 2 weeks as well!

And as such, it is my responsibility to preserve them."

Sorry, forgot my screwdriver to pull off the handles.
Cant confirm anything yet. Maybe when I go back for the dros on wed.
          Thanks for the link.

            O wow! That luger didn't match [emoji22].
Very cool on that m1 good score. I'm assuming it was less than the artillery.

A mismatched with export markings only worth $1100 max IMHO

Congrats OP! I walked into my LGS about a year ago and they had a Red9, I couldn't walk out without it! I haven't shot mine yet, the Wolff springs were backordered up until a month ago. I also bought a new repro bolt stop and put away the original matching number part.

                  Here's a picture of mine:

Thats a really nice red9. I ordered the spring kit as well. Wow they were back ordered for a year?
Tell me more about the bolt stop. Got a link? I ordered a pair of repo grips so I can put the originals away.

Here is a link for the bolt stop:

Check out the deal on Bolt Stop, New Reproduction at Numrich Gun Parts

I've read a couple articles online that state that it's a good idea to replace the bolt stop.

If you're looking for a shooter bolt stop, I would recommend one of Lugerman's repro bolt stops. He machines them from tool steel and heat treats them to the appropriate Brinell hardness, and also finishes them with a nice fire blue finish that matches an original broomhandle well. A bit expensive, but well worth sparing an original matching part from damage.

Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for Mauser Broomhandle C96 Bolt Stop C-96 at the best online prices at eBay! Free shipping for many products!

Parts of unknown quality or vintage. Maybe even Chinese parts for all I know. I would go with a known quantity and get a Lugerman bolt stop. Matches the finish of your gun and its worth the cost given how much matching Red 9 Broomhandles are.
