    Ammo Check 7.62x54r

    Just picked up 700 rounds

Wasn't totally sure what it was but figured at .35 cents a round I'd figure it out later.

I believe it is Czech manufactured.

headstamp is bxn and I THINK 63

Been reading mixed reviews anywhere from it is crap, to it is great.

    Anyone have any experience?

Czech silver tip, before it dried up, that was the best milsurp on the market. I've got an unopened wood crate of it I've been hoarding.
Steel core light ball, if I remember right they are a boat tail bullet, consistent accuracy, great in a PSL.

I have a few crates of it. Works well, no issue except typical surplus corrosive

My experience is the BXN is more accurate than 188, but has much greater velocity (and kick and exciting ejection from a PSL). Circle 10 from Bulgaria shoots best in my barrel, even better than the highly regarded 7n1.

Oh it has been a long time. I shot maybe 800-1000 rounds of that Czech Silver tip thru a M91/30 replica PU and a M39. I was able to get about 2" groups at 100 yards shooting from the bench. This must have been ten to twelve years ago so I am iffy on some details but it was head stamped BXN and 1960's dated. Came in a box that looked like the one in your pic, but was blue-green colored. Great stuff in my experience.

Thanks for the input. Glad I snagged it. I'll probably bring it out next month and see how it does

If I'm not mistaken, and I very well may be, that has always been sought after ammo and held a premium compared to regular Russian 762 by 54 ammo for the PSL and if I remember correctly the vepr folks.

Good ammo, but the box is faded. Should be blue green in color liked Beatle Bailey said.

Yup like the others have said, Czech silvertip. I still have a few boxes of it that I'm hoarding, it's good stuff

I have a 1 1/2 cases of that silver tip from several years ago when cheap sales were common. Makes a nice fireball out of my mosin m44 carbine. Never pulled one of the rounds down to see if boat tail projectile or what powder looked like and weighed. Got me curoius now, will do that this week end.
