I have about a 1/2 crate left of silver tip too. I want to shoot it, but i also don't want to because i like it.

I never liked it due to sticky bolt problems more than usual. Never understood the hype over it. With patience I've found better ammo at better prices even in to this era. It's also getting pretty old now too even though I have fired ammo much older than that.

If I came across a bargain lot I'd probably sell or trade it off or just accept the sticky bolt problems and blast it off and not hoard it.

Some of the best 54R you can get. Very accurate stuff. It does stick in some guns though. This ammo was waxed at the factory, but now, the wax is mostly powder. You can copy this wax by using Johnson's Paste Wax. The wax mom used in the old days to wax the floors. Just a tad on the shoulder/area will usually eliminate the sticky bolt issue. Wax, not oil as was used by the Germans on their steel cased 8mm, and later by the Czechs when they made this ammo back in the sixties. The Germans had issues with steel cased ammo, especially the SmE which was mostly steel cased. Someone figured out that waxing it made it shoot as well or better than the brass cased stuff in the mg42.

For some reason that stuff always gave me the worst sticky bolt issues in my Mosins no matter how hard I scrubbed them clean. I always tried to find the non-lacquer coated copper washed Russian or Bulgarian stuff instead which never gave me any problems. I've seen many people online laud that Czech silvertip for its accuracy though. Your box does seem a bit faded, like it has been left out in the sun for a while. The original color is more of a teal blue-green

yeah these were in a cardboard box that looks to have been sitting in a garage or closest for a very, very long time.
