C&R AR-15? In California?

I saw an article flick past on my newsfeed about how some older AR-15's are old enough to be C&R eligible.

How much is this screwed up by CA's absurd laws? Does CA require you to butcher (or register) a C&R AR-15?

The issue in CA is they are banned by name of evil features, so being on the C&R list doesn’t help you.

Yep, those Colt AR-15 marked receivers are banned by name.

No way to make that work in CA now.

I'm so used to AR 15's being ubiquitous, I'd forgotten the old ones were all made by Colt.

I have one of those, a Colt SP1 manufactured in 1968, a 4 digit serial number. It had to be registered in 1989 as a RAW. Has a few of the early parts on it including the 3 prong flash hider and the bolt carrier is NOT notched for the forward assist, which came later.
