If that poor thing hadn't been buffed within an inch of it's life, I would be interested in it @ $600 or less. But I know myself and I would always look at it and be pissed that someone did such a lousy job on it.

It is a shooter. The bad it is a 30 cal. I would say he is asking the max price and is not a bargain. The day of sub $600 Lugers are way gone as you can part one out and make money.

The only time I've seen sub $600 Lugers is when the parts are worthless too. Heavily buffed, chromed, combination of both. Those parts are useful only as a functioning pistol and the value is only there in a complete gun.

There are small exceptions, like springs, magazine and firing pin etc.

I'd offer $500, be willing to spend $550 and shoot the crap out of it. $600 if 9mm. Lugers are very pleasant to shoot.

This is where I'm at, too.

A pitted, worn used up Luger feels like it has a story thats a cool one. A buffed to hell one has a story that's a tragedy.

The best thing about the Interarms/Mauser pistols is that there is no fear of fragility as one might find on a pre-war example.

Are you saying you wouldn't shoot Winchester white box in your Luger? WWB is generally considered to be the best commercial round to use in a Luger.

I am saying that I would not want to risk using any modern ammo that may be considered too "hot" for a 100 year old Luger to shoot safely. Since the .30 Luger is an obsolete caliber, yet still produced and somewhat easy to find, logic tells me that it is marketed for use with Luger pistols.

The folks over at the Luger forum always recommend WWB for all Lugers regardless of age. But yes, you don't want to feed your Luger NATO or any plus or hot loads. Irreplaceable parts can break. They can usually be replace, but if it's a numbers matching gun, it's value goes down considerably.

Do you have the box for that Interarms Luger?

The reason I ask, is I think I have an original factory box for that model...

I have a 6" stainless in 9mm marketed by Stoeger before Mitchell Arms got their hand son the license. Nicely made and solid, though they do lack the fine fitting of the originals. A fair number of them are C&R eligible despite being not 50 years old.
