Bobby, I always knew you were a stand-up kind of guy and you post just proves it. But, I wouldn't want anyone else to have to deal with the massive disappointment of having a K31 without a troop tag, so in the interest of not spreading the misery any further, I will man up and keep this one.

I did do something to assuage my crushed feelings though, I located a matching number, non refinished, Gewehr 98 with a very nice bore for a decent price. Since I know how everyone likes to look at the junk I drag home, I will post pictures as soon as it arrives next week.

When and if you find some GP11 look for a few six round chargers they make life somewhat easier.

I've never seen 7.5 Swiss ammo like that before with the ridges... What brand is it?

I have some GP11, none of mine look like that.

Which charger failed ? I was about to ask if anyone has tried the polymer charger and with what results.

That's a nice rifle. Been thinking about getting one lately, but am holding off on anything not 9mm/45acp/223/308 until I see how the new ammo laws are going to play out.

Anyone know of anywhere to get ammo for this in northern CA, etc?

Both plastic and the red one. It's not really a failure, but the last round end up hanging around on top of the magazine.
