    First C&R Handgun

Put my 03 to use yesterday on a handgun for the first time

I've been contemplating going down the handgun rabbit hole for some time now, looking at Nagant revolvers, Star Model B, Tokarev and a few others.

With all the recent CMP 1911 chatter this one caught my eye.

I believe it is "Hartford Colt" made for Argentina, part of the original 10,000 unit contract made in the U.S. for delivery to the Argentine military between 1927-1933 and before the Argentines set up their own manufacturing.

It is reparked, bore looks good and there is a small CAI import mark on trigger guard. Picked it up for $700 which I know isn't as cheap as they were back in the day but I'm happy with it.

I'll add some more pics once I have a chance to fully disassemble.

Down the rabbit hole I go.....

      Congrats!

Looks like a nice piece of Colt 1911 history.

      I like the markings!

Very Nice. I started down the handgun path too. Easier to store but more expensive to buy. The Argentine 1911 and Chilean Steyr 1912 are on my short list. I am a sucker for the crests. However my next one I want to be a SA Stamped P39. I already have the holster just need the pistol.

I'm a sucker for anything Argentine and am watching for a Systema. Getting a contract Argentine 1911 is even cooler

That one is nice, modified a bit but hard to find. Century Arms had them for sale in the 80's. I have one of the Sistema's still in the original blue as the Colt made ones were. Somebody changed the bushing. These are very good pistols and getting hard to find now.

Congrats, very nice pistol. I haven't gone down the rabbit hole on C&R pistols either. I've always been more interested in rifles for some reason, but who knows what the future holds.

I like Argentine stuff too. I want a Ballester Molina but I really don't want to pay what they go for now. There is a Argentine FAL on the CGN marketplace.
