    Yugo sks gas tube problem,

So here is my deal, my dad thought he would be cool and mess with the gas tube valve. so he got it pushed over to the right and then realized it dosent shoot semi with it in that position. He got the rifle back to me and know i cant get the lil button back over to the right and when its pushed forward the spring wont let it come out. so what do i do, ive never run into this problem before lol. thanks in advance!

If it's the 59/66 (with grenade launching sight) I think that the position forward and to the right is the semi-auto setting (holds down the launcher ladder-sight). The button has to be pushed down in order to move left or right. If it doesn't move freely, you may have to pull off the gas tube and pull out the pieces for cleaning. With the gas tube off, the button can be pressed down and moved to the rear position, where it can be pulled up and out.

its a 59/66, I know over and to the right is semi, and down is to Launch, but it wont move over to the right, and it wont come out like it normally would, do i drill it out of spray some carb cleaner? i mean a new one is only 10 bucks lol

        uh......oh....!!!

I think its broken and not worth much now, but I will offer you a fair price for this broken and no good riflle that is not worth very much because it is broken and the button does not work and it does not shoot except single shot.

I will offer a really good price for such a broken down and good for very little old worn out army rilfe that is collecting dust at your house.

i had this problem when I had an sks. I lubed up everything, and took it out to shot. Thought i'd throw it into the grenade launching mode to see if it would really stop the gun from cycling. It did, but what also happened was the oil I used to lubricate that gas part that shuts off the gas, dont know what its called, turned into carbon and really stuck everythin up. I think a good angled thwack with a piece of wood will loosen up the carbon. Just hit it down and to the right... Hope that works for yah.

Why would a gas system need lubrication?

Futurecollector, get a rubber mallet and try hitting the piece over. If that does not work, spray a lot of cleaner that removes carbon fouling (Hoppes, Breakfree CLP, etc) while holding the 59/66 upside down so it gets into the gas system. After doing that, whack it over again.

i was thinking more rust prevention than lubrication
