Looks like rifles will be arriving at customers tomorrow, I'm curious to see what is being shipped.

Back in 2008 I got a Service Grade WRA for $795 and a Correct Grade HRA for $975. (Service Grade SA and HRA were $595 at the time.) So the Service Grade WRA has gone up only $135 in 9 years, not that much. https://web.archive.org/web/20081205...g/m1garand.htm

I didn't think they were that much in 2008. If you really think about it they have only increased very little in price being $795 in 2008 is like $905 today. So after factoring in inflation they have only increased $25.

Those inflation calculators use government data which strips out food and fuel so the inflation numbers look better than they really are. So factoring real inflation it could have actually decreased in price.

Everything Garand has been going up. CMP has been upping the price of HXP M2 ammo over the past year. Last fall it was less than .67/rnd. This spring it was .80/rnd.

As things get scarce on their end, they keep raising prices.

I'm debating buying one. I have 3 now and 2 being from CMP within the last year or 2.

I recently sold a CMP rifle and it wasn't so much the rifle itself I sold. But, I felt I sold my soul when I had to surrender a certificate with my name on it. These CMP rifles have that connection to their first owner that follows it forever. I vow never to sell a CMP rifle even if it was the least valued.

WRA Service grade Garands are starting to be delivered. Two people have already posted they have received theirs over on the cmp forums.

CMP wood mix masters, although the first guy received a 10/41 receiver with a 9/43 barrel (1+/3+). http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=213090

Mine should arrive tomorrow. Approximately 4/44 receiver based off of serial number.

BTW, they are limiting the orders to 1. I ordered 2 but they only processed 1. Some people have received emails indicating only 1 Winchester per year, but my email from cmp did not say this. But they are only processing 1 rifle per order.

I bought a ton, literally, of it in 2008. I seem to recollect it was around 30 or 33 cents a round. I have it in all three packages, sealed in a spam can, and in clips wrapped in bandelleros, and loose in a Ammo can.

It seemed cheap compared to 223 and 308, and I hadn't started to reload yet.

I've been debating ordering one, but I am tired of the CMP wood on my last few and don't want to drop $400 plus on a proper WRA stock set. Was hoping to see USGI stocks on the early shipments. So I am passing on these and saving the $$ for the 1911's or some solid Philippines returns later. I may well regret this and can certainly understand why folks are excited to get these. Price seems fair for what they are.

Ammo yes, but rifles have only increased in price due to inflation.

I agree. There are as many Garands as Mosins hoarded away in collections. When the old timers die or sell, prices will drop, and you will have your pick of the litter.

sgammo has ppu garand ammo for $0.70 a round.

Never shot it so I don't know how good it is.
