    Colt Python from 1966

Not perfect,it's got some holster burn at muzzle and front edges of the
cylinder but mechanically it has no equal,no timing
issues,no endshake, BC gap of .004". These were put together very meticulously
back when. From the looks of the top strap and barrel throat doesn't look like
    it's been shot a lot.

Too bad the craftsmanship there will never be duplicated. I wonder how many man-hours it took to build (what was then) a $200ish gun.

Yep, if it's not the latest plastic wonder gun or something that can be still purchased new, the folks that visit the handgun forum show little interest.

It's kind of the same way on the semiautomatic forum too. All they seem to relate to are featureless AR's.

I had a 1964 Python that I sold last year. I just loved the way it looked, but in the end I decided to make an obscene profit and use the money to buy a Valmet M76.

I think the Pythons, especially the earlier examples, are among the most beautiful modern firearms ever produced. Your's is gorgeous. Maybe there will come a time when I can afford to add one to my collection.
If it ain't broke, keep fixin' it 'til it is...

Just remember inflation - $200 then was ~$1500 now.

The craftsmanship part, however, can never be duplicated.

My neighbor has one from the mid-60's as well, just immaculate and probably the finest pistol made by Colt ever. Mid 60's vintage pythons are like 1935 Oberndorf Mausers, the best of the best. A testament to the craftsmanship, but also a pinnacle of the design. And I don't mean ornate engraved shotguns and frilly materials and marbled wood, I mean the pinnacle of the practical design with no expense spared to making a fully functional firearm.

That's the definition of art to me!

                        Congrats on your purchase!

I really enjoy shooting the python. I'd have to check the serial number on the box but I think this one was made in 1985.

By far my favorite revolver to shoot.

I can't imagine how people could look at that beauty and just say meh. Congrats on finding such a beautiful wheel gun.

Honestly, the Colt Python 6" Blued is my favorite wheel gun. Yours is terrific.
