8mm for me is strictly reloads these days, I bought some very nice and expensive Nosler brass (over a dollar a case) and am getting 4-5 firings by neck sizing first 3 and then going to FL. When you do the math, it's very cheap, probably less than 50 cents a round for match grade best stuff. If I annealed I could probably get the Nosler to last even longer.

The die set was around $75 total and lee makes a good set for less than $20.

For 7mm Mauser I still use box PPU ammo because it's cheap.

The Romanian stuff is interesting. Looks like at least 3 different places have contracted with them to import ammo.

There are quite a few reports of the Romanian stuff being out of spec, slightly over sized. I know a guy with a MG34 that won't chamber it, but the same ammo works/runs fine in a buddies MG42.

I would start by buying a box, make sure it works. before you invest in any quantity.

I think the issue is they built to wrong specs. The case shoulder is a tiny bit higher up than on regular 8mm. I think they might have the verse of an 8x59 Breda cartridge that they loaded a bullet seated to 8x57 into. This would explain why most guns won't chamber it, as its slightly to long. However, I think guns out of headspace will chamber it fine!

The Romanian surplus is good ammo. The stuff that came in the tuna cans. The new stuff is fair to poor from most reports of people who have had the ammo.
