    Wolf and 8mm

Do you guys think wolf will be making some cheapo steel case 8mm soon? They are doing it with .303 and is expect the market for 8mm shooters is a lot higher!

The reviews I've seen of the Wolf .303 weren't very impressive so I doubt they'll pick up QA in 8mm. There was one where the powder charge varied by 1.5 grains. I'd love some cheap plinking-grade ammo in 8mm but with that kind of inconsistency it's more of just tossing lead downrange. If I just want the bullets to go in the approximate direction of my aim, I could use a mini-14 instead.

I am actually a bit pissed off that Wolf or Tula does NOT make 8mm. Such a big market, their Wolf Gold isnt that cheap.

There is a thread on Gunboards going right now, where a shooter is getting tumbling with Wolf .303, whereas surplus and PPU shoot normal for him.

I think i'll pass. PPU is worth it alone for the brass.

I haven't shot a lot of the Wolf .303 Brit but it did pretty good in my No5 carbine. My No5 has a long chamber and requires FL resizing so the steel cases are a plus - shoot and discard. It is a full power load and recoil was noticeably more than my reloads but it worked well. Its probably not the best for tight groups but it did good enough for me. If they make an 8mm round, it would be worth trying it out.

Nonsense. If I can reload in a 2nd floor apartment, anyone can.

I wouldn't mess with .30-06 cases though, unless you have a bunch of them you will never use, and a lot of free time.

Just buy reloadable ammo (Privi is probably the cheapest) and save your empties.

It isn't cheap, but people see "Wolf" and subconsciously believe it to be so, and buy it out of reflex. It is sort of like an overpriced item at Big Lots. It can't be overpriced... it's at Big Lots!!

I have seen Romanian steel case 8mm at the Vallejo Show from time to time. Not sure who distributes it. Its lacquer coated though. Dirty chambers sometimes. Hornady did make " Metric Calibers " previously, and it was boxer
                          primed, pricey, but reloadable.

The Romanian stuff is interesting. Looks like at least 3 different places have contracted with them to import ammo.

Midway has it as PW Arms:

Which looks exactly like, and has the same specs as the Hotshot stuff SG ammo sells: http://www.sgammo.com/product/red-ar...romania-am1990 I believe Hotshot is a Century Arms brand.

Sportsman's Guide sells what also looks to be the exact same stuff, but in a green box. Also from Romania, with the same specs and same green bullet sealant as the Hotshot and PW stuff.: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/produ...ammo?a=1741208

There are quite a few reports of the Romanian stuff being out of spec, slightly over sized. I know a guy with a MG34 that won't chamber it, but the same ammo works/runs fine in a buddies MG42.

I would start by buying a box, make sure it works. before you invest in any quantity.

I'd like to see wolf do 8mm. I've had good luck with the .303 in my Jungle Carbine.

My VZ 24 is only for plinking so as long as it goes bang I'm good.
