I'm not a gunsmith. How difficult is it to replace my barrel? Never done it before.

I would say dark, pitted bore but strong rifling

Great. Are their collectors that will buy an m48 with a dark pitted bore with strong rifling? I'm thinking I paid too much for this, but I wanna sell it because the sights are to tiny for me. Ugh!

1. Keep trying to clean the bore. You might be able to make it less dark with more cleaning.

2. If the reason you want to sell it is the rear sight, consider replacing the rear sight http://www.mojosights.com/sample-page/mausers/

brush it with a good bore cleaner, patch it a lot . Shoot it and re clean and then look at it. As of right now i would not buy it as a serious shooter.

Not a sewer pipe. Just dirty and corroded. Lands/rifling look strong. Should shoot ok.

I have a 1917 Eddystone with a sewer pipe, so I know the difference.

Funny you mention to keep cleaning the bore, as I was thinking the same thing. Everytime I clean it, black muddy sludge keeps coming out. It's disgusting looking! Can you recommend a good bore cleaner for this bore?
