    Help me rate this bore

I want to honestly describe the bore condition of this milsurp to a prospective buyer. If the more experienced collectors would help rate this I'd appreciate it.

Is this considered a sewer pipe?

I would say dark, pitted bore but strong rifling

This is a m48 Mauser. I wish I had been able to get a better bore for $300.

Oh yes. Many times. I have about 300 rounds through it.

Pretty common in milsurp, i find the muzzle/crown in milsurp can tell how good the shootability very well.

How does it shoot? I've seen worse that still shoot pretty good.

At one hundred yards, I can consistently hit a 10" steel plate. At two hundred yards I can hit the same plate about 50% of the time. It can hit a plate a 300 yards but I'm not that good with iron sights.

Hitting anything with these old military sights is pretty good at 100 yards.

Pitted or "etchy bores" I call them aren't always an eliminating factor, especially when the rifling looks strong as yours does. Strong rifling and crown and you're good to go imo.

I guess that would be how you describe it along with your pictures if you're going to sell it, or have someone who is better with iron sights shoot it and see if it does any better.

Dark, pitted bore with well defined lands and grooves.

I tend to be conservative on my bore descriptions, so I'd personally avoid the word "strong".
                              C&R nut.
