Empire and gun show vendor both know what they have so the prices will be full retail unless you don't mind that or won't put in the work to find them. My last Arisaka purchase last year was a T38 carbine no mum $235 out the door. The previous two in last few years were a T38 no mum $50 out the door and a T99 with mum but a bit rough and duffle cut $100.

OP...your going to find that Arisaka prices are all over the map beginning in the $150 range for a ground mum mixmaster to north of $1,500 for a museum quality piece. There are many variables each adding value including :Full, unmolested Mum, Matching serial numbers (on every part) , series/serial number range (the earlier the better) The maker (some are rarer), intact aircraft sights, intact matching dustcover (somewhat rare)Original unrefinished, uncut stock with intact "urishi", Intact monopod, original sling (with the rubberized canvas type being the most rare as few survived) Good luck with your hunt!Comment

Try gunsinternational.com
There are a lot of dealers and private parties represented there. I've had very good luck with a few milsurp bargains where I've been able to haggle with the seller.
Right now there are several Arisakas from a few hundred $ on up listed there.Comment

I've been looking for a T38 as well. The important thing that I've read is that if you want accuracy the bolt must match the gun.Everyone on Calguns keeps talking about TDS. I never knew we had so many fish keepers!
The TDS on my 10gallon tanks 110ppm
The TDS on my 29 gallon tank is 150ppm (due to substrate)Comment

If you give people a straight line like that, this is about the level of response you are bound to get. Just be glad you didn't post "Date this rifle"... Those pictures are usually very disturbing.

Yeah I've noticed that, especially with the type 44 and the paratrooper I saw one with a ground mum mixmaster for 550 south of me and the a minty one for the price of a decent used carOP...your going to find that Arisaka prices are all over the map beginning in the $150 range for a ground mum mixmaster to north of $1,500 for a museum quality piece. It's funny being in Dallas I can find all the guns all y'all want at normal prices but I can't find an old gun I want anywhere in the damn state

If it's a mid-late war 99 and it doesn't have the dust cover, mono pod or AA sights, that's ok. The Japs started leaving off non-essential extras to conserve valuable time and material. Case in point, I had a late war 99 and it didn't have the accessories but it was 100% correct. For some reason, even after they did away with the dust covers, they still milled the receiver slots for them.

I shop in AZ and NV quite a lot same thing -
The good stuff is bought and in collections, or it just doesn't come out much -
all the plastic, pretend army guns you could ever need though.
I have found some nice things, but, really not as profligate as you'd think to would be.
Oh and the desert dwellers all watch pawn-stars and all that other TV garbage so if you do come across a bolt action it will have belonged to hitler or mussolini or both of them.Pitfighter.

Very true. Although mid-late was rifles may never have been issued with many of these accessories, they wont usually command the prices of the earlier examples with them.If it's a mid-late war 99 and it doesn't have the dust cover, mono pod or AA sights, that's ok.
