So gas issues aside, the Garand feeds and cycles soft points well? That is good to know.

Have them on two of my rifles. Honestly, I don't notice any difference at all. I assume it is working. Hotter loads still feel hot. So... who knows.

I run soft points and FMJ and all types of commercial and surplus ammo in my Garands.... Same plug in them as came from the CMP.....
150 grain to 180 grain....... Never any problems these last 15 years...

If you can't use HXP ammo from the CMP since the projo attracts a magnet, PPU and S&B offer Garand-safe ammo. There is no need to use a GG gas plug for Garand-safe ammo.

If you reload and use smokeless powder no slower than IMR 4320 then you are good and no need to use a GG gas plug. The Hornady manual has a section on reloading for the M1.

If the GG gas plug is for the end of the world z*mbie ammo, stock up!

Yes, mine does and loves it. More accurate and consistent than HXP M2.

I have one that I swap in for hunting.

PPU 165 gr. SP and Remington 168 gr. TSX Hog Hammer.

150 gr. HXP and PPU M2 ball doesn't require it

Works great and only takes a minute to install.

I use it and use garand safe loads, why not remove some stress from the cycle if you can without sacrificing performance.
