Anyone running garand gear gas plug

Hey all. Wondering if anyone has experience with the garand gear gas plug, supposed to allow you to shoot commercial 30-06. Lots of good reviews out there and forgotten weapons/ in range did a video using one. High speed footage seems to back up the claims.

I have one on both of my Garands. They work for me.

      I assume you're talking about this: http://www.garandgear.com/ported-gas-plug.html

I have one. Installed it right after I received the rifle from CMP.
Also replaced the op rod spring. It came out in 5 pieces.
Haven't shot any commercial 30-06, yet. I loaded up on Greek HXP surplus and an ammo can full of PPU Garand safe 30-06.
But I thought it would be good preventive maintenance to upgrade the gas plug and perhaps relieve a little pressure on the op rod.

        I'm in San Diego.
Message me if your Garand wants to get out for a little exercise.

I'm using one on my Garand and have had zero problems with it. I like that it gives the option to use heavier bullets and hotter loads if necessary without fear of damaging the rifle. You can also use any off the shelf hunting ammo with it.

Guys, are you telling me an M1 can get beat up by certain ammo, just like a G43?
              I'm truly shocked!

I have one in mine and have been happy with it.

I have one also, It is perfect for the shooter that wants to shoot modern 30 06 hunting ammo. The other plus is it is easey on the operating rod. Operates on less pressure.
Before i got the garand gear one i had the other adjustable plug and did not like it. For one the threads did not match perfectly and i always felt i was forcing it on my rifle.

I have the Schuster Plug, similar in concept. However, I don't shoot hunting ammo. I used it to soften the ejection and reduce the distance my brass gets thrown. I got tired of chasing my brass spread over a half acre at the range.

If you use/load M1 specific ammo there is no need for any one's modified gas cylinder lock screw.

But if you don't, there is.

OP, I have one of those devices. It is of good build quality but I have not had occasion to install it yet. I figure it will come in handy when I run out of HXP. Until then it will stay in the parts bin.

I have four Garands, two M1Cs and two M1Ds, and put them in each as soon as I received them.

I've shot a lot of ammo through them, from Greek surplus, new HXP, and my own custom loads, and they eat everything I throw at them without issue.

                            Well worth it IMHO

Run one in my M1. 165 Gr PPU JSP runs smoother than HXP with it.
