You could try calling J&G Sales in Prescott, AZ. Their site shows that they don't have any, but if you call them they might be getting some in (or could get you one)...

Then just take a little 8 hour drive over there, and pickup whatever C&R guns you'd like. just make sure to submit the DOJ form for the handguns when you get back to CA...

that's what I did with all my C&R pistols...

cz-52's like to break the takedown latch pins. sometimes the fireing pins too if you dry fire them. heavy triggers, horrible sights. really hard to shoot acuratly. but i still love them. they look awsome, cheap to shoot and the TOK round has plenty of penetration.

get a harrington fireing pin and get an takedown latch pin if you get one. also, get a staking tool, your gonna need it to keep the pins in cause they will tend to work themselves out. specificly the takedown latch pin. you will know it's doing it cause the slide wont stay back when the mag is empty.

I like the J&G idea! Anyone here actually drove to their store and pick up a gun using their C&R FFL? How many hang guns or rifle can I purchase at the same time? Thanks!

if you have a C&R FFL, as many C&R firearms as you can pay for

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

driven there twice (that i can remember) and have picked up all sorts of stuff. They don't even look at you funny 'cause your from CA!

as many as you can mortgage your house for and/or carry!

One word of caution: the J&G Sales folk know the law. In fact, they know the law so well that they will let you legally buy high cap mags (like the kind that come with the CZ-82, you have to ask special for the 10 rounders). But they are still illegal for you to bring back to CA...

what I'm saying is: make sure what you buy in AZ is legal to bring back CA. This includes yugo M59-66s with grenade launchers and such. And don't forget to submit forms to the DOJ on handguns you bring back...

I'm fuzzy on the deadline, is it 5 days to submit the forms or 10? it's been awhile...

I purchased two cz/vz52 and two cz82's from JG ... i love that place ! As far as the cz52 goes I love that pistol... it is a clunker and it has a heavy trigger pull but there is something about it that you gotta love ... oh and there is nothing like firing that old corrosive 7.62x25 surplus ammo. I love the smell.

Putting in a Harrington firing pin (or something similar) can really fix that heavy trigger pull. Just that one fix dropped my pull weight from 8lb to about 4.5lb.

If you want hollow points, you have to reload yourself, last time I checked. If you want to maximize expansion and minimize overpenetration, there aren't a lot of choices. Not everybody wants a high velocity penetrator.

I have a 9mm barrel for mine, which opens up the choices a lot, but those are hard to find these days, and it still has all the other issues that make it a $200 gun.

As others have said, it's a personal preference. Here's my standard post on the CZ-52 - I probably should have posted it in the first place instead of the short version:

                              -------

The CZ52 is fun, but not very practical. It's heavy, not very ergonomic, the grips are big and awkward, the sights are terrible, the trigger is poor, the ammo selection is limited, the firing pin breaks easily with dry-firing, and the firing pin block doesn't work when it's a little bit out of battery. Magazines are relatively expensive for such an inexpensive gun. Mine has a nasty trigger slap that makes my finger go numb, but not all of them do.

On the plus side, they're cheap, easy to disassemble and clean, you can improve the grips with a Handall slip-on. They're loud, with nice muzzle flash (depending on the ammo), milsurp ammo is cheap (but corrosive). Much of the milsurp ammo has hard primers and requires a double-strike, but they're good for clearing exercises! The firing pin problems can be fixed with a replacement, which can also improve the trigger pull at the cost of reduced safety.

There's also quite a bit of doubt about the tribal knowledge of how strong the actions are, as there are semi-regular reports of one blowing up. There's a fellow on the 'net who likes to test guns to destruction, and he found the CZ52 chamber failed before the brass did, which is unusual.

Mine's pretty much a safe queen these days, and an ugly one at that.
Well, then why don't you give it to me.
I'll pay the fees to get it off of your hand.
