Mauser extraction issue

Looks like you tried to feed a single round into the chamber by placing it into the open action. All rounds should be fed through the magazine on your Mauser.

The extractor you pictured is broken. Mausers feed from the magazine, and only from the magazine unless the extractor is specially modified and you take special steps when doing it.
I'm guessing that you "single loaded" the round by dropping it into the chamber, and tried to close the bolt over it. That is a "no no" in a Mauser.
Okay, having said that. The extractors used on the Yugo Mauser (Yugo Mauser Mod. 24/47/48) are the same length as the standard Mauser 98s.
The only parts that are different lengths on the Yugo as opposed to the standard 98 are the receiver, bolt, firing pin, trigger housing, floorplate. Pretty much everything else will interchange.
Just find a standard Mauser 98 extractor and use that. Numrich and Sarco should have them.

I loaded into the chamber only once and that was the first round. After that the rest were fired from the magazine. That may have been enough to weaken it.

Sailormilan2, Thanks for that, that really helps as I was looking online and parts for the yugo mauser are not common and 98 mauser parts are much more widespread.

Wow, so that ammo was bad? Well ****. Thanks for the find, I had no idea that was incorrectly labeled. Do you know where some other appropriate ammo can be found? Almost everywhere is out of stock.

Extractor looks chipped to me. Get a new one and it should work fine. It's pretty hard to actually destroy a Mauser extractor; Paul Mauser specifically designed the 98 Mauser extractor to be huge and oversized to prevent precisely this problem.
