SVT and any of you others care to sell me your spare FN49 in 30-06 or Argy in .308?

I have an itch to burn holes in my bank account. It's my graduation present to myself plus my FAL is getting lonely.
There is one for sale on Gunboards right now:

A Luxy! Thanks, emailing him now.

I don't know what these are worth or how to determine that yet. I'll need to do some research on the side soon.

Sorry, but I don't have a extra 30-06 rifles... And I actually don't own a Argentine...Never found one I liked in my price range.....

The rifle in the Gunboards link looks good and correct. As for price.....On the high side, but not many in this condition are around, and sell very often. That rifle is a "early" contract rifle... Which really means nothing as for value. It's just one of the first 4,000 from the original order in 1950.

(The serial numbers started at 1,001) not zero, so that rifle "4737" would have been the 3,737th rifle out of the 4,000 rifle order. Later in 1952 Luxembourg ordered an additional 2,000 rifles. These were "late" variants, and had some different features. No difference in value.

          I've only got one 30.06 FN49...a Luxembourg model. I've got several 8mm Egyptians and a 7 x 57 Venezuelan, too.

I'm not sure about the legality of the 7.62 Argentine in Cali...I've only seen them with 20 round mags. Would love to have a 7.65 Argentine FN49, but I've only seen one in my life.

How does your FN-49 in 7mm mauser shoot? Do you use commercially available ammo?

It shoots well. I use S&B 140 gr ammo pending development of a good handload.

7mm is the best caliber for the FN49. It compliments its sleek design and light weight.

Well, looks like the seller had a very promising buyer already. He's supposed to know by tomorrow. It'll be too late by the time my account is activated and I can post according to their forum rules.

I hear ya on the legality of the Argy .308 considering the new laws, but I'll find a way if I ever come across one. Time to scrounge through pawn shops.

                    The search continues...

I picked up an Argentine from a fellow calgunner a few years ago and he sold them with a couple mags that were cut down to 10. Not sure if he did it himself or he got them like that though.

They were crudely cut down by the importer post Clinton's standard capacity magazine ban. I bought one of the rifles with two of the 10 round magazines from the wholesaler back in the 90s.
