    German Luger

Looking for information on this Luger. I have done some research and have yet to pinpoint it to a date. I don't see many 3 digit serial number Lugers around.

There appears to be a small waffenamt on the receiver but you likely need to post more pics to get a better idea.

Cool. How does it shoot? Is it accurate? I've wondered how these WWII Lugers handle modern 9mm ammo.

Simson & Suhl Co was the manufacturer for police P-08's in the 1920's-early 1930's. When Hitler came to power, the company was put out of business. The company was Jewish owned.

My guess is, that because of the low serial #, it might have been made in 1922. I believe that was the first year the company went in business making Lugers for the police. Most of the parts were made during WWI, and reworked and built by Simson & Suhl.

Luger's should only shoot 115 grn standard pressure rounds. Modern hollow points will probably jam. And +p ammo will probably damage it eventually.

Please do not shoot this Luger. They are very collectible and have a special section among Lugers. You have a police Luger in excellent condition. They were made between 1925-1926. There is a part missing, a sear safety, on top of the side plate that keeps the barrel section from firing when disassembled. The vertical notch above the left grip was for a magazine disconnect which was removed a few years later. The ser# is on the bottom rear of the barrel. Any chance the mags are matching? Only about 12,000 were made. There is a person Ed Tinker at

That published a book on this model.

Yes both magazines do match! Thank you for all the info! I don't plan on shooting this, it will stay in the safe for now.

Besides not shooting it, I recommend it not be cerakoted or retrofitted with night sights or an accessory rail. Nor any G10 grips or flared magwells. I would leave it as is.

Very nice looking Luger. It looks to be very good condition and to have matching magazines is pretty amazing.
