This is quite comical, or sad, not sure which yet.
The first batch of eight K98 RC's sold out quickly. Now they have a new video of the second batch of eight available tomorrow 8/23.
In the first 3-4 minutes of the video, Big Ben discusses how they are graded (his own knowledge) and how they come up with the pricing. He basically states pricing is based on the fact they they cannot replace them at prices lower than they have them priced at. He also states something like (I'm paraphrasing) "if you don't agree with our prices, don't buy them". So they certainly read the various forum comments.

The worst part about this is that they wouldn't do it if they weren't getting away with it. Although I found it hilarious the way he implied that if you don't want to pay the prices they're asking for them than this isn't the rifle for you. well no actually never dealt with Classic, and hopefully after this video never will. This video makes me think of the 3AM infomercials I regularly wake up to because my little princess won't sleep without the white noise they provide.

Woah... anyone see the Swede M96 video? SMH, $900, $1000, $1100. Really? I thought the K98s are bad, but this is just ridiculous. I bet the wrapped MAS 36 is going to be $1500.

I was interested in the MAS 36 but I'm probably just gonna hafta pretend my M48 is French for these prices.

In their defense, this is probably the last time we'll see these guns offered commercially in these amounts - such is life!



And $1000 Swedes? They will sell all of them in 15 minutes - guaranteed. I remember clearly buying my second Mauser - I liked the Swedish but couldn't justify the $200 price so I got the $69 Turk from the same rack...

I get Dennis's lists and they are always full of neat stuff. The stuff seems to be mostly sold by the time I read it but it is still cool to see the stuff offered and the prices are reasonable. Someday I might even find my personal unicorn on there, a minty Standard Modell Banner Mauser K98...sigh...
