Yeah I read about the leading issue somewhere so just have jacketed bullets. Apparently the shallow rifling was meant for the jacketed bullets also not lead bullets.

I put one of these on mine and it reduces felt recoil and doesn't change the look much but added some LOP which was good for me.

Awesome rifle and great shooter. I had to run 240 gr bullets to get rifle to run properly. I tried lower powder rounds, lower weight bullets and had all sorts of issues (failure to feed and eject). Ruger also made a 44 mag lever action companion carbine. I'm still looking for the lever gun model. Numerich still has plenty of parts for this rifle and Boydds has replacement stocks. Pretty sure I picked up books on this rifle through Amazon.com

I did not think recoil was anything but scope reticle dropped. I blew up a Redfield scope on it.

During tear down, make sure clean gas port to make sure rifle gets enough gas to move pistol to cycle action.

I've never seen one of those before. It somewhat reminds me of an overgrown, high quality and classy 10/22. I bet it's a hoot in .44 magnum!

              Very nice rifle, enjoy it!

                Great score without a doubt.

Be careful to not squeeze the front end too much. The wood stocks on these split often under the tube magazine where the wood is thin.

Apparently the 10/22 design was inspired by this 44 Carbine according to some info.

So now I've got these to fill out my Ruger Carbine Section in the safe.
