    Ruger 44 Carbine

Won this at auction and just picked this up from my CA friendly NV FFL:
$25 transfer fee and no 10 day wait!
Already dialed in with Factory Peepsight and near mint condition, oh yes it's a C&R per the serial number!

FFL has some M1 Carbines, plus other C&R and antiques. Has an NRA 1903 Springfield dated 1906 I think.

    Those are .44 Magnum, right?

    By the way, very nice!

Yes 44 magnum only, will not do 44 special.

Thanks, I'm actually relieved it's so nice!

Did a search on Proxybid and found there were maybe 5 up at various auctions. Did some research found out that some of these are C&R so started paying attention to serial numbers. This one popped out as a C&R, there were 2 other 44 Carbines at the same auction same guy was bidding on all of them.
He got the first two (non C&R) and I bid against him for this one and got it.

I went after this one because of the C&R Status and being able to route it through my NV FFL instead of routing through my local CA FFL and deal with all the CA BS.

$650 plus auction and shipping fees about $795 total

No tax, and only $25 transfer fee, no CA Dealer transfer Fee/DROS FEES etc.

                That looks great!
I picked up one made in 1962 just last year.
There's a pretty good YouTube disassembly video out there, mine was a little crusty but ran great after cleaning with Winchester 240 grain JSP ammo.

Do these have a buffer that craps out after a few years like Marlins?

These were great, and I have no idea why Ruger gave up on them (or the PC4 pr PC9 Carbines for that matter).

I have one of these that dates to 1962 IIRC. I'll have to dig it out to confirm. I was thinking about letting it go.
If it ain't broke, keep fixin' it 'til it is...

Not bad! I have a local FFL that does the DROS for $25 so it's not too bad for me. I do have to pay tax though.

No it does not say "DeerSlayer" on it this was made after the Ithaca Law suit.

Another reason I got this is because it can't be outlawed as being centerfire with detachable magazine, if the laws change.

Apparently mine is the "RS" model with factory sling swivels and peepsight according to Wikipedia.
