Today was a lot of fun, especially since I missed last month's shoot. Thanks to 81Turbota for the hammer and punch to drift my front sight. Without that it would've been another range trip to see if it I got it right. It was fun firing the plastic training ammo Syntax Error brought, no recoil at all, just like firing a .22 (except louder). Thanks to Gunkraut for letting me shoot his G41, that was a first for me.

Awesome shoot as usual- worked some kinks out of a few of my guns, identified some new kinks in the process. A labor of love

Thanks to everyone for being so friendly and generous. See you all next month.

        CMP M 1 carbine

Ed [ dumpy ] brought his CMP inland 1943 M 1 carbine that just came from DROS last week. It is a beauty and functioned flawlessly. Good score ED

Here is a before and after picture
I did 6 coats of pure tung oil. Didn't mix it with mineral spirits or anything. Took me about a week.
(FYI, I haven't buffed it with 0000 steel wool yet. So it still has that slight gloss)

If you need any oil, let me know. I still have 95% of a bottle.
Looks nice thanks for the offer but already picked up a bottle. Figured would do a few red oak bookshelves with it too

Thanks for posting that. We did manage to get one coordinated volley in there

I'm heading out to Angeles Shooting range in about an hour to sight in a J.P. Sauer K98. Also taking my G43, G41 and FG42 in case someone wants to squirt off a couple rounds.
