I look over the bore, everything looks great. I look at the front sight post and it's bent backwards " Oh, its like a 5 dollar part. They do that like Mauser for a battle zero setting"............ Needless to say when I didn't make him an offer and told him no deal. He walked out all pissed off.... I have his screen name and I am willing to out him if anybody sees a 1946 M44 Russian on the market place.

It seems like anybody selling Mosins nowadays is just trying to make a quick buck and their ads dont accurately reflect what they're selling.

I am afraid that was sort of a self-inflicted wound. In no situation would it be cost-effective to drive 75+ miles each way to buy a $200 rifle. And it is an even more colossal waste of time and money to make that journey to come home empty handed. In the event that I am going to drive any great distance for a firearm, I will make sure I am reasonably confident there aren't any hidden surprises waiting when I get there. Specific questions and picture requests should ameliorate such concerns ahead of time.

Regarding your second post.. that will keep you out of trouble, but it will severely limit what is available to you. Most of the more uncommon stuff I have acquired has only been available via other boards or auction sites.

For example, I was recently looking for an M44 as well. But this M44 needed to be a Tula. You are not going to routinely find one of those for sale on Calguns or at your LGS. Takes a bit of digging to get what you want sometimes.

*Hesitant?? Because you have to check in with On-target staff before inpecting firearms
*I told you that previous owner probably bent front sight backward, because it was probably shooting too high at 100yds,like mauser rifles.
*STOP LYING,out me? LMAO, I declined your offer of $250,because you asked for $30 discount for bent frontsight.
*Also, you should least ask On-target staff first before, pulling out live round to check for condition of the bore.

Say what you want. Now that you've exposed yourself to everyone. I talked to you on the phone before the deal I asked you if there was any problems, like rust, pitting, why you were getting rid of it, etc. You never mentioned the bent front sight backwards. Which in all likelihood was done when someone was trying to sight it in with a tool.So you left out that Major important detail....

The part isn't "5" it's 15-23 shipped... You misrepresented your rifle and instead of being honest and upfront wasted 2+ hours of my time....

The live round comment... They're all armed it's not like I chambered it.. went straight into my pocket after 1 second. I stood infront of the muzzle checked it and away it went.

Prices fell with demand, demand fell when surplus 54r ammo dried up, .35/rd+ vs. .25/rd (no more $110 440rd tins).

Common logic on buying a mosin was "<$200 antique that shoots 30 cal for .25/rd", many of us watched this NutnFancy Video. I have a mint ex-sniper 91-30 and a nice M38, I don't expect to make money from either but they are generally my most satisfying fun/recoil per $ at the range.

Not 100% sure on timing & specifics but mosin prices trended higher from Russian import ban headlines, then as the ammo dried up, prices fell back down.

Pulling a live round out at a gunshop and not letting them no first is a bad move.

Just one more situation where hearing about a horrible transaction needs to be followed with "I need to hear it from the other side" before drawing any conclusions.

I didn't realize ammo was so hard to find these days, too. I used to have a bunch. Another thing i should have never sold.

No one hit on it, and I had it up on here and on armslist. I ended up selling it for 200 dollars and it came with all kinds of accessories. Like it was bedded and shimmed, it had a custom fiber optic adjustable front sight, sticky bolt issue fixed, brand new firing pin spring, brand new extractor, a sight pusher and about 8 stripper clips. Plus all the original stuff that came with the rifle.
I would have paid more than $200 for your setup. Sounds like a sweet setup. I am currently adding shims and spring on the trigger and wrapping the barrel in rubber cork and a muzzle brake and anything else I can find to make mine shoot better.

I bought an all matching Tula M44 last week. Counterbored but shiny bore. Nice piece and relatively hard to find.

Egads, I have a bunch of 54r around here some where. Haven't shot them in a year and a half or so. Gotta get them out for the BIG BooM that they make and the Fireball! Good luck finding a good M44.

I did find one. lol. But you guys are saying it isn't worth it.

I actually stumbled across an "unfired" T53 that has some storage bangery on the stock, but EXC+ Minty mint mint metals all matching with the original stock. Now I just need my dang C&R/COE to show up.

Beater mixmaster T53's are everywhere. On the other hand, nice T53's with matching numbers are rare and hard to find. I'd be all over that if I were you.
