Thanks guys - as mentioned; Kano Kroil "the oil that creeps" ordered from Amazon -

    Thanks for the advice -

Gunkraut - my 07 is doing the work, but this would not have been possible without the help of some very fine craftsmen and other collectors in the field - obviously as he (and I) are both FFL's we are paying strictest observance to state and federal regulations on such things.

Here it with replacement parts installed - it is not phosphate coated at all, and on closer inspection neither is the interior.
90% of the examples I found on line have a thick gloss-black paint applied, that is either cracked or scratched beyond help.
I have now seen some with chemical blue receivers, lowers and selector levers.
Some with phosphate others with a mix, and then some with the gloss black paint.

48 hours in Oil - cotton rub, probably 20-30 times, more oil, more waiting, more oil, more waiting.
Sorry about the OOF shot, that is the "Fzs" factory-code for Krieghoff.
Photographed with a thin sheen of oil on metal.

This is the G-Type I found in a museum in Canada - (it is still in Canada.) They were nice enough to let me photograph it - it is one of the few I have handled without the ugly black paint. The finish appears phosphate here.

That looks excellent. I think the earliest German Parking was 1943, it was not as widespread or accepted as with USGI.

If your looking for an oil chemically made for either zinc or mag phosphate check out Lauer's post treatment solution. It's a very light low viscosity oil like CLP of Kroil but it was designed to displace water and penetrate into parked finishes. I use it all the time after parking HK builds.

I had an old Springfield receiver that was pretty bad, left it in for a few days. The rust could be rubbed off with a finger (with some gloves on). There was some pitting but the stuff is extremely effective.

          Thank you - Disco,

I have reread the "Death from Above" book about three times conservatively now, lol.
Then about a half dozen other books I have that deal with the Parachitist's rifle.
There does seem to be several different finishes, I am trying to ascertain a pattern according to date of manufacture.

These firearms were basically made at one factory, Krieghoff - there was a second manufacturer - Dietrich of Altenberg (GCY) produced some firearms, but these are rarer than rare and obviously bare a different factory code.

Unlike the MP44's that were put together by several sub-vendors, where the mix of finishes could be explained.

I am coming to the conclusion that I think some may have been refinished with that black paint in the field, as the very thin chemical blue, seems to have allowed rust very quickly, especially around the grip stick area, where hands sweat, etc. Just hypothesis right now, though.

This is an example of the black finish that I seem to encounter most often:
          (Pic pulled off internet.)
**Note the selector lever in "Full-Auto" position - (emergency use only per the manual) - my lever will not turn there - the internals on mine are "Semi-Only", but, the semi-circular "scratch" was revealed by the "magical-smelly" Kroil-oil -

The condition of your grips is AMAZING! (just like Huell Hauser would have said it.)

I am English so I already have enough dental issues, thank you for the advice, though.

Edit - thank you - I have a couple of toothbrushes in the cleaning kit, this time I used just the cotton rag, as was recommended, and it took a while, but, had great results.

                          Small update -

I found a photographic example of a G-Type in untouched condition in a Museum (Musee Des Armies, Paris) - it is a similar finish to mine - without the "thick-black" paint that seems to have been applied to a number of examples (see above).

Here is quite a rare period shot of a G-type in use, if only training -
I have the "L" (Luftwaffe) marked Zf4 scope - I have had to go with reproduction mounts (on order from Dietrich, not Estes), as the originals go for about $5K when they turn up.

Here is a shot of an original FG bandolier - this one is in a museum in France.

Probably have to go for a reproduction one of those, too, you don't want to know what the original FG42 bandoliers go for! -
