    Thread for C&R License Process

Can anyone point me to a thread which I'm sure exists somewhere here that will help with the process of getting my C&R license and COE?

My searching ability seems to be at a loss or I'm looking in the wrong places.

Looking to get heavily into collecting milsurp C&R after a hiatus of a couple of years. Been reading up but I know someone here has made a thread that will be most helpful. Seems to make more sense now than ever to go that route.

I've tried to set up a couple of buys but I'm realizing that it's really impeding me having to do every PPT through a FFL compared to what I should be doing.

Sorry to ask about something that doubtless already exists - hoping you can point me to the right thread and then let this one die.

Probably detailed in the sticky (very top thread in the list).

The ATF application form is here: https://www.atf.gov/file/61516/download

    Can't help on COE, sorry.

Download the 03 application here and follow the instructions. Unless someone else beats me to it, I've got a sample letter for your CLEO that I will post when I get home from work.

Download the COE application here and follow the instructions.

Post back if you still have any questions.

It is so much easier and more fun to start a redundant new thread than to read the accurate and thorough stickie that graces the top of the section.

IDK, the sticky might be useful, then again I wouldn't know because the first few pages are dedicated to some extinct pdf project and it's hard to navigate through that + 23 pages.

We can do better than that.

eta: I know above might sound flippant but that's not my intention and I understand how "now, now, now" generation can be irritating. It's just that I have looked at the sticky a few times over the years and never found it very useful from an interested but casual/non-committed observer.

Maybe someone should offer to fill it out as well. Perhaps even mail it in cause that would take it to another level.

The link in the first post is old but it still takes you to the right application for the FFL03.

It would have been convenient for me as well if someone would volunteer to run the courtesy copy of the 03 application down to the police department for me. I don't want to sit in the lobby and wait to talk to anyone, surely there is some easier way for that to get done than me doing it myself. I'm tired.

Agreed. Sorry, but that sticky is pretty much useless as a sticky, aside from a link to the form in the first post. It is 45 pages long (in my browser anyway), with almost 900 replies.

There should be a new sticky with an overview of the process for 03 and COE in one post, with links to the forms.

I mailed mine in to the chief here in Rancho. I never like going to the police station, had too many run-ins with the cops in the past and they make me nervous even if I'm not breaking the law. Even though white people are perceived to have it easier because of the racial profiling I still feel the "man" is after me sometimes.

No, it would be easier to go to a website that had better instructions. I did. The first page on calguns sticky is filled with jargon about double sided forms. 2nd page is all about fonts? A locked stickey with a how to would be nice.
                      OP check this out.

Pretty sure calguns sticky has "room for improvement"

Yeah. Mailed mine too. Not driving 45 minutes for them to look confused about what I am handing them.

Mailed mine to the CLEO as well, included a cover letter so he would be less confused.

On edit: and in 4 letters so far (initial, renewal and 2 changes of address), I have never been contacted. Maybe I jinxed myself, the 5th went out yesterday for my 2nd renewal.

I admit. That cover letter is a excellent idea.

How to get your Type-03 C&R FFL

I posted a complete step-by-step process for the BATFE C&R FFL HERE

I know that I have posted a complete process on how to do the COE. In California ... the Type-03 C&R FFL license is utterly useless unless you have a COE.
