    Finally got an M1903a3

Today ended my 10 days of torture so I brought home my new baby. It's a Remington M1903a3 and looks to be mostly original. The only change is the trigger. It looks to be a match trigger of some kind but I don't know for sure.

The stock cartouches are intact. The barrel has a clear 9-43 with RA and a Flaming bomb. The bore is shiny and the rifling is sharp. If this thing was fired, it was very little.

    Here are some pics.

Thanks guys. I've been waiting to get a good one for a few years and finally came across one at the right time. Can't want to hit the range with it.

The Timney (?) trigger is going to be an improvement for shooting. Other than that, it looks very unmessed with.

                      Nice find.

Perhaps try to leave the match trigger in for shooting, and buy a spare original trigger at your leisure. Tgat way, if you decide to sell later, you can sell it as all original.( unless there are other parts that arent original then i would just enjoy the rifle as it is). Fwiw, the original 03a3 trigger is mighty fine.

Ok, I'll try it as it for a few trips to the range.

I purchased a USGI trigger group last night. I might swap it in or leave it for now.

                            M44, check
                            K98, check
                            Garand, check
                            1903a3, check

I am predicting that that stretch of space in your group picture will soon be filled by an M1 carbine, an Enfield, and maybe even an Arisaka.

Thank goodness so many owners over the years have had the good sense to sand down and obliterate those weird stampings and protect the stocks with heavy, shiny varnish, They were really thinking ahead.
