    WTB M1 Garand

I have this posted in the WTB section too. Anybody interested in selling?

    -----------------------------------

I was hoping to find something here or over on gunbroker, but not successful yet. So, posting here on WTB in case anybody is interested in selling.

    Must haves:
    1. CMP rifle with certificate of authenticity matching serial #
    2. CMP case
    3. Throat and muzzle reading tag, or you have a guage showing the wear. I realize sometimes these tags go missing.

Nice to have - local :-)

High or low serial # doesn't matter, nor the manufacturer.

    What I'm willing to pay:
    1. For a Service grade with low readings (2 or better) and nice, matching wood, I'll pay up to $950 for a local example or $900 if it needs to be shipped.
    2. For a Special grade, would be willing to pay up to $1,200 for a local, and $1,150 if it needs to be shipped.

You can PM me if you would like, but please follow up with pictures and detailed information to my e-mail at thejimlark@gmail.com.

    Thank you,
    Jim

There's no such thing as matching serial numbers on an M1 rifle. The only serial number is on the heel of the receiver. All of the other numbers are drawing, or part numbers.

I think he means the CMP certificate matching the receiver.

Yes, I meant the serial # on the CMP certificate matches the receiver.

        Thanks

I may have a hra service grade (4.7 serial range usgi wood) that fits the bill. Let me check.

So, what you are saying is...

You are willing to pay, for an immediate sale/no BS, a Prime CMP Service Grade M1 Garand, w/ a current Soviet Province of Californiastan acquisition cost, not counting CMP membership requirements and luck-of-the-draw, in the neighborhood of $875.00 delivered...

                ...a whoppin' $900-950 dollars?

                  GR,

It was my understanding the Service grade rifles are $730 from the CMP - at least that's what is posted on their web site. So, my whopping $950 offer is actually paying a premium of $220. I'm not asking for a "prime" example, which would be the CMP Select. I'm offering for a nice Service grade.

Are you saying $950 is not enough?

Do you have a 03FFL and a COE or do you need to do a PPT at a 01FFL?

the actual cost of a CMP Service includes club membership fee in an associated club, (GCA is pretty cheap at $25), transfer fee at your local dealer plus dros (Redfield is the best deal at $25+$25 but he has limited hours) and "use" fee from the state which comes out to over $56.

                      so, best case scenario is $730 + $25 +$50 + $56 = $856.

                      $94 premium.

                      Good luck with that.

Ok only $730.00 now I understand. Site says 2-4 month wait, yes says right there. Why not do the paperwork send it in and save some good money.
Most that really want one usually does the paperwork then posts some nice pics of their Garand. Some make me very jealous seeing matching barrel & stock
Thats what you want I think.
You can get one too for $730.00 shipping is included Only for those very lucky few.
Some get some dont get but all are happy with what they get Get it?

I just checked. For a Service Grade Garand it is a 4-6 month wait. Not 2-4 months.

I think what he is trying to say is that you will have to pay to join a club that is affiliated with CMP ($25-$100 on up), then purchase for the CMP price of $730, wait 4-6 months, then pay the receiving FFL and dros (approx. $100 give or take), and tax on the purchase at the FFL (approx. $50).
So, that said, I wouldn't sell my service grade HRA Garand for that $900 you suggest ... not even close.

Order a $730 Garand from the CMP, and then watch how fast your $220 "premium" dwindles down to next to nothing.

Or you could just buy a piece of junk then correct it by buying CMP later for $800, you get what you pay for
