re: Pat Burns / gunsnammo.com - I'm very happy with mine. They do control pricing to some extent since they originally imported the M39s and they're the ones who know how many they have left. They've always put them on the market in a very controlled manner to avoid a glut. Sometimes you'll find somebody selling one cheaper but you're counting on somebody being dumb enough to not check Pat's site first for current pricing.

Mosin Nagant Prices

That's like asking would you rather have food or water? Tough decision. Polish M44's can he found in new condition, but are usually upwards of $500. If it is a mixmaster or worn, it should be in the same ballpark as an M44.
I guess between a Polish and a Finn I'd go with the Finn. Longer barrel, and more pleasant to shoot than the Polish flamethrower.Comment

The million dollar question with the Finn is do you prefer a minty post war stock or a worn out and plugged but more authentic war time stock with the neat Finn cartouches?Comment

Ooh good timing. I will have my first finn m39 antique on the way soon
I'll get to see what the hub bub is all about. Can't wait.Comment

Be careful of catching Mosinitas I started with an 1943 izzy 91/30 then a 1938 tula PU sniper, then my finnish SKY, then the m44's then the t53. Now Ive got 18 of them.Comment

Mosin prices still seem to be controlled by what comes out of the importers. I would think a nice matching pre war mosin in a nice pre war stock should be worth more than a 1942-45 mosin in a war time or post war stock. I think after all the importing is over prices will start to vary quiet a bit.Comment

no such thing as a 1938 PU sniper. their is such a thing as a put together 91 30 with a present day new production scope and mount. I had a 1939 repo PU imported by PW arms and sold threw big 5 about 4 years ago. they made lots of them. I paid 675 dollars for my big 5 PU
. they can be nice shooters though.
1 1/2 years later i got a REAL 1944 TULA hand select PU from AIM for 750
.

You are correct the ex sniper i believe is a repo from j&g . I think it was selected as sniper capable due to the CH marks, but not 100% sure. either way it was like $400-450ish and fun to shoot. My sister likes to shoot nazi paper targets with it.no such thing as a 1938 PU sniper. their is such a thing as a put together 91 30 with a present day new production scope and mount. CH or CN on a Tula would be the marking of a sniper. There are a small amount of CH or CN marked Tulas that didn't receive the sniper treatment however. Look inside the receiver and also along the sides of the receiver behind the barrel shank for filled holes. It's possible that it's an ex PE or PEM.You are correct the ex sniper i believe is a repo from j&g .
