In Sacramento, River City always has a few standard Mosins still in the cosmo for $190. But like others have said, if you already have a 91/30, consider moving upscale and getting a Finn M39.---------------------

Not a bad price for a local shop. Without a C&R+COE, that's cheaper than buying one online when you consider the FFL fees.
As said above, I'm recommending the Finns. Jthesby has been a lucky guy indeed, I have similar scores as well. I bought both of my M39's here on Calguns. Sometimes the "Old Ruskie rifle" stigma carries over to the Finns, for example the "Nagant 91/30 1942" I bought for $180 which turned out to be a 1942 Tikka M91. I assume few people bothered to open the listing based on the title. While not as common, keep an eye out for Finnish 91/30s, M27s, M28s etc.
Another huge consideration is Finns are usually in better mechanical shape than refurbs. Of course, you may see Finns with worn bores, but most of the time they are pristine. Refurbs are luck of the draw. It's common to see Finns with 30% or less bluing and chewed stocks retain a mirror bright, sharp bore. The common exception to this is Finnish capture rifles, usually those show signs of heavy use.
If you are patient and ready to jump on a good deal immediately, you will find nice ones.

i have a guy offering me a all matching, unissued finn M39 for 425.00. i am new to the C&R game and have a hungarian and russian m44 so far, i am supposed to be buying a nice Polish M44 for 225 but the FINN sounds like a better deal. AM i right on this?Originally posted by OHODI guess I could rub my muff against his exwifes muff. Is that what they call muff diving?Originally posted by ivanimalI love you! (some Homo)

Based on year and maker of that M39, $425 a good deal. I paid $400 and $550 for the two M39s I currently own, various factors determined price of course. I'm also curious about that Polish M44 you mentioned, if it's matching numbers I would have bought it yesterday. The Poles show excellent fit and finish.C&R nut.Comment

yea, all matching numbers. PLease dont say things like that man, my hands got instantly sweaty and now want to buy both.
SO what you think the Finn M39 or the Polish M44?Originally posted by OHODI guess I could rub my muff against his exwifes muff. Is that what they call muff diving?Originally posted by ivanimalI love you! (some Homo)

If the Pole is in VG+ condition, matching numbers and has a good bore I would personally buy that first. You will have no trouble finding VG+ to excellent M39's for $400-450 in the future.C&R nut.Comment
