Today in 1941,Colt shipped 2500 blued 1911A1 military pistols to
Springfield Armory. They were numbered from 726978 thru 729477.
Parkerized pistols started a few months later at serial
number 735,000. From 1924-41 Colt produced less then 25000 Blued
Military 1911A1 pistols,they are highly prized by collectors. There is no way
to know how many have survived. Here is one,it is in its original finish
and parts including a mint barrel,in an era of corrosive ammo. Pete
