Mine actually isn't in that bad shape but if you had a CZ82 and the paint was all chipped, would you bead blast it, then Cerakote it? Or what about a Makarov that wasn't even C&R? I don't like bubbaing C&Rs but somehow I don't fell that bad painting a pistol made in 1990 if the paint is chipping off?

I have a CZ82 that does have a badly messed up finish and I have considered refinishing it with Cerakote. I even though about doing it myself but have been told getting a CZ82 back together is pretty tough and I don't want to tackle it if it won't easily go back together. Some day I'll get it to somebody and let them do it. It must be that it's just not much of a priority with me or I'd have already had it done.

We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

To me, most of the historical guns begin pre-1960. A CZ82 or a P64, I like them and have both but they just don't seem that historical to me, although I am sure my future grandkids might think differently if they ever inherit them. Probably because I was born in 1963. It's hard to think stuff that was made during your own lifetime as being historical.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

I think the main question here is: Black, FDE or OD Green?
Also, pics. We need pics.Comment

Yes. Use a black semi-gloss chassis epoxy paint that you can find at auto-parts stores.
Home Depot carries black GLOSS epoxy paint, but it will look like crap.
The semi-gloss looks period correct and is resistant to most oils, lubricants, CLP and Hoppe's No. 9.
