hopefully the finish damage was a blood spot from the appropriate donor.
What do you call the people that abandoned the agenda of John Kennedy and adopted the agenda of Lee Oswald?

Choas, that one looks really nice. Not sure I want to paint a blued gun. Not that its worth a lot, but I like to keep things original.
What's strange is the frame below the slide is OK. Its like they took the slide off and dipped it in something. Who knows, most thieves are morons.

Is the importer added serial number on the front portion of the slide? Can't see it on my phone. Maybe the criminal took the slide off and dipped it thinking the serial number would "etch" off? Maybe the criminal wasn't versed in imported firearms and thought the import stamp was a "distinguishing" marking that needed to be removed? Not all that bright...

That is a miracle Paulie, congrats on getting your pistol back.

Mine has tons of hideous importer billboards, seeing this makes me want to have someone sand down the billboards and paint it that way. It really looks quite nice. Hmm...mine is 1969. Yes it is C&R but not sure how historically significant it is. It is on my CCW so it is going to get a lot more holster wear.

Paulie Lugnuts and Capy. Thats not my pistol just one I turned up from searching. It isn't even the one I was looking for that I had seen before but thats a nice one.

But yea I think it's dead sexy. I agree on being a C&R purest and that its a shame to paint a blued gun but IMO Paulie your's is just too gone and would take a lot of work and money to bring back. So IMO paint would be the way to restore this one... That and you would have to worry about the finish less if its a carry gun...

I agree that your slide was dipped in something.. especially if the frame still has its blueing.

Is that the same on the other side of the slide? If not I would guess something like a towel with a vinegar based liquid was left in place. The finish looks intact on the front of the gun.

Its been awhile, but I finally took our P64 to a gunsmith and had it reblued. Cost almost as much as we originally paid for it, but it looks right now.

Very nice but I would have sold it and bought a primo condition new condition one like AIM and the other always have for $279.00 one rather than sinking $500.00 total into creating a primo looking one. But it looks good and it's your money!

Paid $149 for the gun originally. The reblue cost $125 from J+G Gunsmithing in Granite Bay.
