I find it hard to believe there are not any more to import, maybe international political restrictions, but probably more scarcity due to "Collectors" hoarding, dreaming of manipulating the market and increasing the prices.

"Collectors" never clean the original "cosmoline/dirt/drebish" from their rifles.

What 91-30's would you say are worth the top prices not counting snipers? I'd say very late dates I guess. I think Finn 91-30's will go up in price.

Non-refurb 91/30s always command a premium in price over your typical arsenal refurb 91/30.

I got emails from places like Aim surplus about a year ago explaining the well runs dry.

The mosin world was fun, I spent years collecting and trading, you can find some nice collectable ones.
If you collect, DONT refurbish them as that will hinder your resale/collectable value.
have fun and keep baba away from your collection.

I think Spanish Civil War versions of the 91-30 will go up in price as well as more become aware of them.

Geez.. unless you sell on Gunbroker. Look up 91/30 7 pages of overpriced wishful thinking...

no gun that is still available in the surplus market is valuable. K 31, sks, mauser, garand and many more. you can still get lucky at a big 5 and find a special Mosin.

Hell one of those legit sniper Mosins is a lot cheaper than that.

                  In no particular order:

                  Simonov Trials Rifles
Late Dates (non snipers are probably going to be worth more than late date ex-snipers). I've seen a 1950 dated one, 45-47 are more common but still rare.
                  Training rifles
"Instructie" and "exercitu" (sp?) marked rifles
                  Non-Finn, non-refurb originals
                  Finnish captured, original condition
                  Finnish captured, mixmasters
Finnish captured, then recaptured by the soviets (soviet refurbs with the "SA")
                  Spanish Civil War
                  Any non-soviet built 91/30
Odd markings, MO's especially. Could throw in weird ones like PM, PM-86, XO, etc
                  GECO, PE, and PEM snipers
Ex-dragoons (ex cossacks even more so, they're much rarer)
Any built off of an M91 (there are 91/30's with US made M91 barrels on them)
Papered bring backs from Korea or Vietnam

I think that about covers it...

I wonder how many of those "cheap" Mosins were "bubba-d"?

Then again maybe I don't want to think about it....

Lots sadly. Just like sporter K98 snipers....everything can be a deer rifle.

There is a stock restoration thread for a 1907 carbine on Gunboards now.

Referring to these as simply mosin's is kind of disingenuous. It's like referring to a M39 as simply a mosin.... it is... but it really isn't.

There might be a CGN member in San Diego area than can help with that. You'll have to PayPal gift the funds to his (ex)wife and he may be a bit hard to get in touch wh he travels to Miami a lot.

My great Uncle was a smithy on the side. He made many deer rifles from the 1903 for lots of folks and I was lucky enough to have seen a few of them. He always left the long full stock on every one he made. This was back in the early 70's
