Eventually scored a Lee Enfield 1949 No.1 mk3 in .410 single shot configuration. Looks to have been made like this not coverted. No prior dates or serials or markings of any manner.

          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Charlie, is it a smooth bore or was there some rifling? I've heard of the .410 conversions but never seen one in person. I'm curious to know how it shoots and handles.

Bore is completely smooth. I've owned a few of these and all have been. This one is chambered for 3" cartridges, as have been all the ones that appeared made in this format as opposed to being converted No.1 Mk.3 rifles. Every one I've seen which was a converted rifle has had a 2 1/2" chamber. I assume this is because they initially used brass cased 410 shells which I believe were fire formed 303 cases or similar. Maybe the Indians figured that having a more standard sized chamber was more practical. I have asked others who are more informed than I about this but no response as yet.

Note: thinking about it the NON converted rifles were all dated post 1948 (independence). Maybe that has something to do with it.
