The block prevents the use of a Drop-In-Auto-Sear (A Class III device in itself). Plus the block prevents the use of a full-auto bolt carrier (In fact, all rifles built with lowers that have the sear block can only use a semi-auto carrier with the lower rear of the bolt carrier machined off--not even a "full-circle" semi-auto bolt carrier will work)

ETA1: The sear block also prevents use of the full-auto disconnector with the longer tail. Some after market 2 stage trigger groups won't work with the blocked lowers.

ETA2: Weird. Just compared pics. The sear block pin on Stevie's lower is in a different position from that of the pin on my blocked Colt lower.

The block can legally be removed, but the common method is to grind away the block and cut the pin flush with the interior wall of the receiver, leaving part of the pin to fill the hole. Otherwise you have a hole in the side of the receiver.

Stevie, how do you like that Dissipator? I've been stewing about building one of mine out that way. It's a little different than the typical setup that's shown, and I kinda like it. One big hestitancy I have is that it loses the ability to attache a bayonet to it...

I'm also thinking of going with all green furniture on it. Does that Colt you have dressed in green also have the matching handguards? I'd like to see a pic of that if you don't mind, only seen a few pictures recently of rifles that were done up with the green gear...

          Thanks!

            John

Look on page 15, it has a pic of my Colt Sporter A2 with a green Arms 51 handguard.

So far i like the dissy setup, I had the barrel lightened by ADCO and had that muzzle break removed. I do not plan on ever needing a Bayo, so i do not consider that a problem.

Thanks - I'd seen that other picture, didn't realize it was the same rifle. Your pic's have good lighting, I was hoping to see a green setup with regular handguards. Oh well...

How's the balance of the Dissipator? They look barrel-heavy, but it's only a 16" barrel so it's probably just deceiving.

The heavy bbl version is front heavy. So thats why i had it lightened, its not that bad now. Granted once you add the rail, light etc.. it does get a little weighty. If you ever in L.A. area your more than welcome to fondle it.

                              Hey..
I'm interested in owning a M4 Carbine. I'm in the Californai Army National Guard and need to practice shooting once in awhile. Where do I start looking? I like some of them I seen in this thread, but I don't know where to start on this. Can someone help me out?
