Very Nice!!! I keep looking at the Vltor CASV handguards but I see soo many of them in the WTS section and here they weigh a ton. I am assuming you are happy with yours, any comments on it.

    Thanks Chad

Thanks, I just bought it from a fellow calgunner. I'm taking it out tomorrow, but I love the look and feel so far! I have 2 ARs. One is stock (and light) with iron sights and no accessories.
With the fake can and the optics, this one is a heavy pig anyway, so I don't really notice any difference between the casv and the original config.
I understand though that the VLTOR CASV has actually been battle tested.

Nice rifle! Did you buy it that color or did you have it painted? I've been looking for a local place to paint mine.

It's LWRC's flat dark earth (FDE)...it's the americansnipers.org limited edition from Northwest Tactical. The Gear Sector offset mount that the T-1 sits on isn't an exact match, but I guess it'll do. Wish I could steer you to a local paint man, but I don't know of any. Hey, congratulations on being in Stanislaus County (CCW)...I'm holding on for San Joaquin's climate to change.

                        Sheesh.....
There are tools designed to make it a little easier. After 30+ builds I can do it without the tool below pretty easily now, but when I was first getting started it was a life/pin and spring saver.

Front Take Down Pivot Pin Installation Tool $12.99

Having the right punches also makes a build a lot easier. I would not attempt a build without an AR punch set, you will just mess up your lower if you do. I don't carry them but MidwayUSA does. $15

I also use a thick athletic sock and double layer it over the lower to help protect the finish when installing the roll pin in the bolt catch lever, as that requires the punch to be running parrel with the lower and the punch tends to slip and scratch the lower if you don't have a lot of padding between the two. People look at me like I am nuts, but ever since I started doing it that way I have not had a so much as a scuff mark on my lowers.

it's funny how prices are really sick for rifles and pistols. over here you pay 5k$ for a AR-15 but for a SIG 550 or a SIG P210 both in newish condition you pay about 1000$ :/
I'm pretty sure Israel works the same way. You see off duty people in their civies with their various M16 rifles in Israel all the time.
